Brian's brings the insanely popular Sub Zero Pro III catch glove to the masses with the new 7.0 catch glove for 2016.  Though the glove is made internationally to bring costs down, 90% of the materials sourced for construction are equal to or the same as those found on the domestically made Sub Zero Pro III trapper.  And with Brian's unmatched one-year limited warranty, you can be confident that the construction quality and performance will meet the high standards that Brian's has set in these areas over the past several years. We've compared the Sub Zero Pro III and the 7.0 catchers side by side, and we could barely tell the difference.

The Sub Zero 7.0 features a one-piece cuff and solid thumb design.  This gives the goalie a solid, predictable blocking surface when playing pucks in tight to the body.  Though the thumb angle isn't as steep as the design found on the popular G-NETiK catch glove, it is steep enough to funnel pucks directly into the deep, single-t pocket that comes standard.  The finger are of the palm is also pre-curved to perform the same function.  In short, you can kiss pop-outs goodbye with this glove.  The horizontal bridge of the t-web has been made thinner to help reduce the overall weight of the glove, and it seals completely to the ice when covering the puck.  The glove is built with Brian's 40 Degree closure - a natural full hand closure that puts the break angle closer to the thumb.  Goalies who grab this glove off of the shelf will notice that it's protective palm closes easily right away - little break in time is required before use.

The backhand design is segmented to help the glove close more easily, and it features a full knuckle to fingertip HD foam pad to protect fingers when covering the puck.  The cuff has more flare than the original design to give goalies even more wrist mobility than before.  The entire backhand can be opened completely for drying between games.

The internals of the SZ 7.0 catcher feature spring mesh finger stalls which - along with the palm - have been lined with Brian's exclusive X-static material.  This material is woven with silver fiber which has been shown to kill 99% of the bacteria that come into contact with it - great for preventing staph and "glove stink".  The innovative 360 Degree cuff that originally appeared in the G-NETiK trapper has been incorporated into the 7.0, and this cuff (along with the palm) are lined with No Slip Grip material.  This material gets tackier as it gets wet, helping the glove to stay snug on the hand no matter how much the goalie sweats.

Keys to a Proper Fit:

  • The goalie's fingers should extend out to the end of the finger stalls of the inside palm to ensure a proper fit. However, any more than 1/2" from the tip of the goaltender's finger to the end of the finger stall and the goaltender will not have the leverage needed to properly close and control the glove.
  • The heel of your hand should line up with the heel and cuff of the catcher. If not, the proper balance between the cuff and catching portion of the glove may be disturbed, making the glove too cumbersome while sacrificing protection.
