Vaughn has done some extensive work for 2015 to make the new LT98 Ventus more advanced than its predecessor. Though the shape between the old LT90 and the new LT98 are similar, the LT98 features several excellent upgrades that cater it to any goalie looking for a superior catching ability. The LT98 has a contoured face design to aid in deflecting pucks into the new, huge single-T pocket. Vaughn was able to significantly increase the size of the pocket by making the cuff slightly smaller than the LT90, enabling the LT98 to better trap the puck. Like the rest of their pro-level gear, Vaughn has included carbon fiber into this glove. Carbon fiber slats reside in the palm to reinforce palm protection, reduce weight and maintain easy closure. A layer of carbon fiber has also been placed on the cuff face, reducing weight and increasing structural rigidity.
The inside continues to use the neoprene inner glove that provides excellent control and premier feel for the glove. The interior liner of the LT98 is an anti-microbial material with an added grip to further promote goalie control over the glove. Two adjustable straps reside over the backhand and the wrist. Vaughn has significantly increased the padding of the wrist strap, giving goalies more comfort and control while offering no less wrist mobility. Carbon fiber has also been utilized in the back thumb, manifesting Vaughn's goal of reducing weight, increasing protection and optimizing durability.
