The Elite surpasses all expectations. It's the best mask in the world hands down. The Elite is a two piece polycarbonate hockey mask with a crystal clear, tough as nails lens. When I talk about the competition their masks are wire cages, look totally disrupts and impede your vision. It's an optical fact, end of story. Or a one piece flat lens mask that scratches on one side and fogs on the other - there goes your investment. The Elite goes far beyond these outdated designs.

The Elite is is the ultimate hockey mask for all level of player from college, prep, beer league and for a pro players who traditionally wears a visor yet occassioally needs a full face mask due to injury.

Features and Benefits

  • The Elite high impact polycarbonate cage frame is just 4.5 oz. The Elite cage frame is available in clear or four colors

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Avision elite visor I play rec hockey several times a week. It's competitive and sometimes you get an errant stick or puck in the face. I've always used a Bauer hybrid half Shield half cage combo. Recently I started noticing more and more players using they Avision visors so I decided to check it out ....so glad I did! Very large field of vision, excellent comfort level , and very lightweight. I highly recommend it, if you are fan of visors versus cages. Quick shipping and well worth the price as well

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good visor, no fogging i had a half shield but was beginning to get concerned about the inevitable puck to the face so I thought about cages at first and then settled on this. Overall, it's great, I have experienced no fogging and for the most part it feels like my half shield. the only thing I don't love is when the puck in in your feet it can be hard to see but I assume I will get used to it as I use it more. Overall its good, no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only visor I will wear! I have worn cages and hate them. I have worn other visors, and despise them. I bought an Avision 5 years ago and fell in love with it. When it came time to replace it, I bought another and the design and functionality is even better. No fog, no scratches and better clarity. I love this visor and will never wear another one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good... But Not Perfect I tried a combination plastic shield/wire mask combo in the 70s, and was not satisfied with it. Since returning to playing hockey almost two years ago after a 25-year hiatus, I've been using a wire mask, but combined with wearing glasses, I got tired of looking through a lot of bars. Older wire masks with wider eye openings used to work just fine, but with changing safety standards, current wire masks just plain annoy me. I decided to give the Avision a try. I bought the version with clear bars. I don't know if the color really matters, but I didn't want anything distracting me. The bubble-like visor lens is virtually perfect, with no distortion that I've been able to notice, unlike old plastic shields that were simply flat pieces of clear plastic that wrapped across the wire cage. One important advantage to the bubble lens is there is plenty of clearance for those who wear glasses (contacts are impractical for me because of my prescription). While the design is excellent, the Avision still suffers from the same propensity to fogging as most full shield designs. The 12" square fluffy microfiber cloth enclosed with the mask does a good job of mopping up the sweat when you get back to the bench and take the helmet/mask off. Some of the fogging goes away when moving or skating, but condensation remains until you get back to the bench. Anti-fog spray helps, but it doesn't stop the condensation. The mask does not flip up all the way (at least when attached to my new Bauer helmet), but at least if you can unsnap the visor and give the mask a little room, conditions improve. I did find one trick that may help minimize fogging: if you have to breathe hard while standing still, try to direct your breath downward toward the chin cup. It's not always practical, though... One other thing: the hardware pack includes extra long screws to attach the mask to the helmet; the original mask screws that come with helmets are too short the thick plastic hinges. On the down side, if your helmet does not come with snaps for masks behind the ear, the Avision Ahead does not include these snaps, so have your pro shop add those to your helmet. I can't give this a full five stars because the fogging issue hasn't been totally solved, but this design is a definite improvement over the old style plastic shields.

From what I can tell in the description, it says there is a replacement lense available and they show it in the pictures. However, I can't seem to find it by itself, part# or price?? I already have one and I'd like to just replace the lense. Possible? SK
