Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worse skates ever This was the second pair of CCM/Reebok 42K skates I ordered, because the tendon guard tears off. The first pair lasted maybe 4 months and the second pair lasted 2 months before the tendon guard started tearing off. Below is the reply I got from Reebok CCM Hockey. Hello, Thank you for contacting Consumer Services at Reebok CCM Hockey. We are sorry to hear that one of our products has not lived up to your expectations. Please note that the 42K skates are a lower end model of skate not intended for this amount of use. If your son is playing 5 times a week you will need to consider a much higher end model skate if not the top of the line 50K skates. Thank you Jason Consumer Services Reebok CCM Hockey That is the last piece of Reebok CCM equipment I buy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good for beginners I wanted to find a temporary pair if skates until I found a good pair I like. I dont see myself as a great player yet, so I thought these would work fine. I ordered these off of a different website. When I got them, I immediately got them baked because I wanted them to fit well. At first they were very painful to play in, but that's expected with any new skate. Break in took almost a month of playing 2 times a week. Feel fine now. As of right now, I've played a total of about 12 games in them, and they've already started falling apart. The blades are coming loose and click when I walk, and there's no way to tighten them. Either I'm a pro skater, or these are not good for intermediate skaters. Definitely wouldn't recommend for anybody who's played hockey before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine skate The last pair of skates I owned were CCM 451 Tacks. Im 62 years old and that was 30 years ago. Im a fair skater. I can cross over forward and backward, skate pretty fast under control, and make quick hockey stops. The CCM 451 boot was a combination of leather and synthetic mesh of some derivative. After sitting in my damp cellar for many years they simply decomposed – my bad. The aspect I liked about these old skates was that after the initial break in, the ankle movement “gave some” and skating was very comfortable. This I attribute to the leather. Time to buy new skates. Ive always liked CCM brand so labored over all the models online at HockeyGiant, and theres a lot to choose from for all budgets. My budget was $150-$200. I went back and forth between the CCM Ribcor 44K and 42K, eventually choosing the less expensive 42K. This is one solid skate. Ive been out on the ice twice and am very pleased with the performance. Fine blade that holds it edge. The lace lock system is awesome and so convenient. The Pump? Honestly havent used it as my foot/heel fits perfectly and very snugly inside the boot. I rate this 4 out 5 simply because its too early to tell how these will hold up. I guess all manufacturers are making boots out of solid polyurethane shells and other synthetic components. Not sure Im sold on this approach as these boots are very stiff. I mean unforgiving stiff, and I dont see this changing over time. I found that the only way to keep my ankle bones from screaming in pain was to lace the boots up snugly below the lace lock grommet, and then very loosely above the grommet. Not quite the ankle support Id ideally like but hopefully Ill be able to adjust this setup with time. I also realize it will take some time for my ankles to adjust to the boot too.
