In 2013, CCM re-entered the goalie market with what became the extremely popular Extreme Flex series, designed by goalie guru Michel Lefevre. The new Extreme Flex II Pro pad continues the new legacy of CCM's pad line. The E-Flex II features many of the same bells and whistles that the original E-Flex had, but CCM has made a few upgrades to the pad to make it even better. The pad features a pre-curved single break core that allows for good flexibility as well as stiffness in the top of the pad to help seal off the five-hole. Traditional knee rolls with a single break below the knee on the outer roll work excellently with the core to provide extreme flexibilty while maintaining tremendous coverage.
The boot of the new E-Flex II continues to utilize a 90 degree break angle, but CCM has added their new Torsional Flex system, making the boot softer as a whole and providing better flexibility when performing lateral slides and pushing off the skate. The backside of the pad features large foam floaters over the calf and knee for protection. The shallow leg channel is made of a soft nash that provides great rotational capability and comfort. CCM's knee cradle is still the recessed foam of the original E-Flex, and is still very voluminous to accomodate large knee/thigh guards. The E-Flex II also only has one knee strap, reducing the weight just slightly and preventing the uncomfortable issue of straps bunching up behind the knee joint.
CCM has changed the graphics package to an edgier look, providing tons of color zones for customization.
