You won't find a complete makeover here, because that wasn't needed.  Instead, you'll find small tweaks to the design that help the glove perform even better than the original.  Starting with the cuff, the Pro 3 now features a true one-piece cuff & thumb design made of a fused foam and plastic.  This new design is much stiffer than the original Gnetik cuff, and it gives goalies better rebound control and better durability here.  The steep thumb that Gnetik users have come to love is still a feature of the Pro 3 and this design is great for funneling pucks into the ultra wide, double-T web.  Speaking of the thumb, the Pro 3 now features an internal leather thumb loop that was missing from the original version.  This gives goalies that classic, comfortable feel that a thumb loop provides, and it also allows the goalie to get a bit more leverage when closing the glove.

The palm is made using a concave design which, like the steep thumb design, funnels pucks directly into the pocket at impact.  The pads that were on the exterior of the palm on the orignal Gnetik have been removed, and they've been replaced by slightly thicker felt and foam in the interior of the glove.  For you, this means that you can still get the "pro palm" that protects against the hardest shots without the exterior padding that sometimes kept the glove from closing completely.  The break of the palm is sewn down with glove lacing, and this design allows the standard "game ready" palm to close completely right out of the box.  We're not kidding either - the gloves snaps shut right out of the box.  It's amazing.  Brian's calls the closure a 35 degree break angle, but to the rest of us that means that the glove has a natural forefinger to thumb closure that breaks a little more towards the thumb than other "standard" closures on the market.

The backhand features a larger HD foam fingertip plate that covers more of your fingers that the original Gnetik did.  Additionally, Brian's has put more of their durable "Primo" synthetic leather material in the high wear area (heel of the glove palm and the glove perimeter where the lacing is) to keep these areas from wearing or ripping prematurely.  Just like the original Gnetik trapper, the Pro 3 comes standard with the 360 degree "No Slip Grip" wrist pad, and X-Static material in the finger stalls to keep it bacteria and stink free.  No more smelly gloves!

Keys to a Proper Fit:

  • The goalie's fingers should extend out to the end of the finger stalls of the inside palm to ensure a proper fit. However, any more than 1/2" from the tip of the goaltender's finger to the end of the finger stall and the goaltender will not have the leverage needed to properly close and control the glove.

  • The heel of your hand should line up with the heel and cuff of the catcher. If not, the proper balance between the cuff and catching portion of the glove may be disturbed, making the glove too cumbersome while sacrificing protection.
