Bauer continues its Reactor series with the new 9000 leg pads. The 9000 caters to the athletic "battle-fly" goalie who is looking for flexible, mobile pads. Bauer has kept the Pro Core insert that lets the pad be flexible while preventing shrinkage over time. The pads feature a flat knee roll design to optimize flexibility. New for 2015, the 9000 only has a single break below the knee, which maintains the pad's flexible nature while keeping the upper part more rigid. Also new on the 9000, Bauer has squared off the top of the thigh rise to maximize the pad's five-hole coverage and seal to the ice.
The back of the Reactor 9000 features some upgrades for 2015. The knee landing and leg channel use Ax Suede Quattro +, which optimizes comfort and allows for unique coloring options. Bauer has opted to make all of the straps leather and buckle. The top two straps are adjustable to fit whatever needs the goalie may have. The 9000 also includes a new calf lock strap which helps secure the leg in the pad. Goalies now have the option to strap the knee lock either directly across the back of the knee or below the knee at the top of the calf to allow for more motion.
Included with the Reactor 9000 is a pair of Reactor thigh guards, which can be worn connected to the pads through a velcro system or separate from the pads.
