Smart Hockey Stickhandling Ball

  • #1 selling training ball in North America
  • Replicates an ice hockey puck's WEIGHT, BOUNCE, SLIDE and CONTACT HEIGHT
  • For years European and Soviet players have used wooden stickhandling balls before games and practices to develop lightening quick, soft hands.
  • In 2001, Smarthockey introduced the Smarthockey Training Ball which used space-aged materials to replicate an ice hockey puck's weight, bounce, slide and contact height for off-ice stickhandling, shooting and passing development.
  • The patented dual density core has a proprietary outer shell that is made of a heat resistant Surlyn material that doesn't "smush" or become pliant on hot pavement which makes it perfect for training on any surface.
  • The ball works so well that in just one year it's already being used by 22 NHL teams and 35 D1 US Collegiate teams before games/practices and for off-ice training.
  • The ball was used by the Russian National Team in the 2002 Olympics and is now being sold in Europe were it is fast replacing the traditional wooden stickhandling ball.
  • It was recognized as a "Product of Merit" at the 2002 USA Hockey National Coaches conference and it used extensively by Skills Development Instructors throughout North America, Japan, Austrialia and Sweden.
  • The Smarthockey Training Ball is a must have for any aspiring player who wants to improve his Stickhandling, Shooting or Passing skills.
  • Every serious player should keep one in their bag for pre-game warm-ups exercises.
  • Also available from Smarthockey: Smarthockey Training Guides and DVD, Smarthockey Training Ball with MiniCD, TUUK Rocker Chassis

Great product!

We have all types of pucks and balls at home (apartment, both carpets and floor), but this ball is most often used by my son. He even managed to break it after half a year usage (maybe its not intended for hard shots), so I'm ordering another one.

great weight, works on bad surfaces

This is a great product for practicing looking up while stickhandling, but for ice hockey players you'll feel like you're getting pretty good but find things so much harder with a puck, particularly with toe drags and reverse toe drags. The green biscuit works better for trying to get the real deal off ice, bug only if you have a nice hardwood floor or stick-handling board. Still, if you are using a golf ball or something this is much better.
Pros:
weight, works well on bad surfaces
Cons:
doesn't give you realistic / transferable stickhandling skills compared with real pucks

My Favorite Training Ball or Puck
July 31, 2013
I have probably owned 15-20 of the Smart balls over the past 6 years and give all of my dangling skill to my off-ice training with this ball. I take one every where I go and almost all of my teammates do as well. Just wish the ball (and my golf balls for that matter) had tracking devices inside.
Pros:
Feels like a puck. Practice anywhere with it, which I cannot do with any of the training pucks.
Cons:
I lose them too often.

works great

It's great! Can be used on just about any surface. I started off using on carpet but now I'm using on harder surfaces so the ball moves quicker. Helped me develop quicker hands and its easy enough to help train to keep your head up and get a feel for whats on the stick.
