The New Jersey Devils franchise was originally founded in Kansas City, Missouri as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974 before being relocated to Denver, Colorado in 1976 where they were renamed as the Colorado Rockies and finally relocated, again, to Newark, New Jersey in 1982. Early on, the Devils struggled, failing to reach the playoffs for 5 straight seasons upon arriving in New Jersey. But, since 1987 the Devils have only missed the playoffs 3 times, and have won the Stanley Cup 3 times since 1995.

Martin Brodeur has been with the New Jersey Devils since the start of his career in 1991-92 and has been the key to the Devils consistent Cup contention. Brodeur received the Calder Trophy as the NHL's rookie of the year in 1994 and has gone on to set numerous league records including over 650 regular season wins, more than 115 regular season shutouts and is one of only two NHL goaltenders to shoot and score a goal in the regular season and playoffs. Despite losing star forward Zach Parise to the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 offseason just after their Cup run against the Los Angeles Kings, The Devils are loaded with talent that includes Adam Henrique, Travis Zajac and Patrik Elias, and they are sure to be an exciting team to watch for years to come.
