Bauer's new Vapor X70 Skates are at the top-middle of the 2013/14 line of Vapor Skates, perfect for competitive players at all ages. Speed is the name of the game, and Vapor Skates are designed specifically for just that. The patented X-rib boot construction helps produce a highly responsive boot design for top speeds and maximum energy transfer.

The boot quarters are abrasion-resistant to maximize durability and long-lasting performance. Protection is not to be underestimated when dealing with skates, and you'll be more than satisfied with the 2-piece anatomically shaped tongue with an integrated metatarsal guard to protect you from lace bite and light puck impacts.

In addition to the excellent, lightweight boot features, you'll also find comfort in the lightweight footbed with integrated heel support for extra stability as you cut and grind. Riveted to the Pro-8 Beveled TPU Outsoles are the new Tuuk Lightspeed Edge Holders. The Edge holders are taller than traditional holders, which increases your attack angle as you're taking tight turns. The holders also have a special trigger mechanism which allows you to release the runners with ease to quickly make blade changes on the fly.

The Vapor X70 Skates are packed with great features that make them a solid choice for intermediate and advanced level skaters at an accommodating price point.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

How does the X5.0 compare to the X70?
By Customer Service on March 6, 2014

They are of equal quality, placed in the same position in their respective product lines. The X 5.0 Skates are from 2011/12 and the X70 Skates are from 2013/14. The X70 Skates get the upper hand here though, because they come with the new Lightspeed Edge Holders, which allow you to replace your steel much more easily and also increase your "attack angle" by increasing the height by 3mm.

My son worn vapor 4.0 last season. What new model is comparable to his skate?
By Pat@HockeyGiant on July 23, 2013

The Vapor X4.0 falls in between the current Vapor X60 and Vapor X70 skates.

what is the difference between bauer vapor x70 and x7.0?
By Jeremiah at on July 29, 2013

They're from two different generations. The X 7.0 Skates came out in 2011 and the X 70 Skates are from 2013. The X 7.0 Skates are much more advanced than the X 70 Skates. They're lighter, stiffer, more durable and protective because they are designed for highly competitive players who are playing at elite levels. The X 70 Skates are great mid to advanced level skates, and they serve the needs of most competitive players. They are right around the upper middle of the 2013 Vapor line, while the X 7.0 Skates are just one model below the top of the line Vapor APX Skates.

My son is currently wearing a Vapor x100 size 13, but his shoe size is now a 3.4-4.0 depending on the shoe. What Bauer skate would be good for this small framed nine year old forward?
By Customer Service on February 9, 2015

Size 2.5 D or 3.0 D Junior Skates would be the best choice for him. 3.0 would give him extra room to grow, but 2.5 would likely provide the best immediate fit for the best performance.

Iam trying to decide between the x70 and x80 price is not an issue and durability is not an issue because i believe my son will grow out of either skate before they break down. really the only thing that is throwing me off is the weight why pay more for a skate that is heavier because the x80 weigh more then the x70. so my question is if durability and price is not an issue which skate x80 or x70?
By Customer Service on May 5, 2014

The X70 Skates can certainly do the trick, it just depends on how much he requires from his skates. The X80 Skates do provide additional support, particularly in the outsoles and quarter package, which are more rigid. The tongue is also more protective and the footbeds are a bit more supportive and comfortable. The X80 Skates also come with the LS2 Runners which are said to hold their edges longer than the standard stainless steel.
