SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Good skate for the price
November 3, 2014
Bought these early 2014 just getting back into ice after a 10 year hiatus . I did not want to break the bank on skates as i was unsure if i would be playing all year. Boot is fairly stiff feels good when i push off, these skates do not heat form well so it did take 3-4 decent skating sessions to break in. Fitment is pretty good i wear a size 10 shoe and squeezed into a 7.5. (i don't wear socks when i skate) I like to feel the toe cap, feet are never cold when I'm don't skating as well. Holder is o.k. not the best but you get what you pay for. The steel also not the best seems to lose its edge after 4-5 games but overall i can't complain. I bought these to get myself back into the game and they have done just that. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a decent skate without dropping big money,
Lightweight, decent stiffness, good fitment, inexpensive

Back on the ice after 10 years!
November 2, 2014
I played hockey in the days of leather and wood. I've only been back on the ice twice in the last 39 years, the last time 10 years ago. In a fit of madness I decided to start skating again and hit a pair of X50s. Boy, do I wish I had these when I was playing! Comfortable! Supportive! (Amazingly so!) Protective! (That shot wouldn't have broken my foot if I had been wearing these!) Inexpensive! AND Hockey Giant's customer service is second to none! Buy these here! You will be very happy!
Comfort! Protection! Price!

I just got the x30s but didn't like them so i returned them and I'm looking to get these. and you guys only have my size in the EE does the width matter?
By Customer Service on December 11, 2014

The width certainly makes a difference in the fit of the boots. We can't effectively judge whether EE width would actually work for you, so if you like the fit of D Width Skates, you're better off sticking with it.

What is the difference between these and the vapor X 5.0 skates?
By Jeremiah at on July 29, 2013

The Vapor X 5.0 skates are from the last generation of Vapor skates released in 2011. The X 50 Skates are from the newest generation of Vapor skates, released in 2013. But, the X 5.0 Skates are more advanced/higher quality than the X 50 Skates. If you're an aggressive, experienced skater and you need a fairly substantial amount of support, I'd recommend the X 5.0's rather than the X 50 Skates. You'll also get more protection and durability with the X 5.0 Skates. You also have the Lightspeed 2 Holder and Runner on the X 5.0 Skates (removable runner), compared to the introductory level Lightspeed Pro holder and Super Stainless Runner on the X 50 Skates.

Are these the older version of the new X500's? How do they compare? Also, the Description states "They are also thermoformable, which is an excellent feature allowing the skates to be baked for a comfortable fit", however the Specifications state "Heat moldable: No". Can you please clarify if these can be baked or not?
By Customer Service on August 10, 2015

The X50 skates were replaced by the new Bauer Vapor X400 skates, the model right below the X500's. The X500's, when compared to the X50's, will have a stiffer, more supportive quarter package, a nicer interior liner, and Bauer's quick release LightSpeed Edge holder/runner system. The X50 skates can be heat molded to your foot if you wish, but they will not respond as well to baking as other models would that feature heat moldable foam in the boots.
