The brushed nylon liner is both durable and comfortable, helping to keep your feet locked in place for great stability. Like the X50 and X60 Skates, the X40 Skates come with the Tuuk Lightspeed Pro Holders and Stainless Steel Runners. At this price point, the Vapor X40 Skates are an excellent choice.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

A featherweight dream!
November 17, 2015
These skates are beautifully constructed inside and out. Very true to size, may feel a bit snug at first but that is normal. Supposedly the X40 version is not a bakable skate so I have not tried to attempt that. The fit is felt in keys points around the foot and ankle to give ample support, feels very nice. I highly recommend this well known brand and even more so, The fine folks at Hockey Giant for their performance and prices ;)

By Nicole Kellum from Arundel Maine on December 12, 2014
What size should I get for a women's size 7 and 1/2?
By Customer Service on December 15, 2014

Junior 4.5 would be the correct choice.

By Walter from Phoenix on September 19, 2015
How come theses are not offered in 13 wide? Do any of your skates come in that size?
By Customer Service on September 23, 2015

This link will show you the 13.0 EE Skates we currently have available. At this time, the RibCor 48K Skates are the only ones available in that size.

By Chris from Chicago, Illinois on November 23, 2014
Can I bake these to break in faster?
By Customer Service on November 25, 2014

The X40 Skates do not respond to baking, but they break in very easily.

If I wear a women's size 12 and a men's size 10.5, what size skate should I buy?
By Customer Service on July 27, 2015

The Sizing Guide for the Bauer Vapor X40 Ice Hockey Skates suggest going down 1.5 sizes smaller than US Men's shoe size. It would be suggested that if you wear a 10.5 Men's shoe to wear a size 9 Skate.

By Zach from Livingston, New Jersey on January 18, 2015
What would be a good size for a men's US 9?
By Customer Service on January 19, 2015

Most manufacturers recommend going 1.5 sizes down from your shoe size to find your skate size. With that being said, you're best to go with a size 7.5.

By Ronnie from West Babylon, NY on August 14, 2014
I think I'm going to purchase these skates. I have the Vapor X in a size 7. Should I get the same size for these?
By Customer Service on August 18, 2014

Yes, the sizing has stayed the same over the years.

By Riley from Elyria,Ohio on July 31, 2015
How long are the laces?
By Tommy @ on July 31, 2015

The length of the laces is going to depend on the size of the skates. Senior skate sizes 6.0 - 9.5 are going to have laces 108 inches in length and sizes 10.0 - 12.0 are going to have laces 120 inches in length.

By Jon from Seattle, Washington on November 26, 2014
Can I request in the comments that I can get these sharpened by you before shipped?
By Customer Service on November 28, 2014

If you would like to have your skates sharpened, add the Hockey Skate Sharpening Service to your order and select the hollow you would like.

By Keith from NC on November 8, 2013
Are these a good option for recreational skating, I've got a old pair of llbean/bauer that I need to replace. Also I'm 11 dress shoe and a 11.5 for athletic shoes. My current skates are a size 10, would this skate fit the same ?

By Customer Service on November 11, 2013

Size 10 would be the correct size for you. The X40 Skates are great for recreational skating because they'll be soft enough to be comfortable without being too soft to provide good support.

By Ron from NH on April 22, 2014
Are the runners replaceable? I am not referring to the quick release type found on the edge holders. Is there an access hole predrilled in the boot at the heel to remove the nut securing the blade as is normally found on the typical Lightspeed/Lightspeed2 holder?
By Customer Service on April 29, 2014

They are not replaceable. The Lightspeed Pro Holders are mechanically fixed permanently to the runners. Only the Lightspeed 2 and Lighspeed Edge Holders allow for runner replacement on Bauer Skates. The X60 Skates have the Lightspeed Edge Holders.

By craig from detroit on August 7, 2013
do they have the blades profiled before shipping?

By Pat@HockeyGiant on August 8, 2013

No the blades are not profiled prior to shipping. Blades sharpening is an option though.

By Jenni Bailey from janesville on September 4, 2015
what shoe size do you normally wear? good for a 10 year old wears size 7 mens shoe first year playing hockey?

By Customer Service on September 10, 2015

Size 6 would provide some extra growing room for someone wearing size 7.0 shoes. The best immediate size would be Junior Size 5.5, but at 10 years old he's likely to outgrow them relatively quickly.
