Bauer's main goal with the Nexus line of hockey skates was to give players a different set of fit and performance characteristics than the Vapor and Supreme skates offer. At the top of the line, the Nexus 1000 skates are built with high quality materials and detailed workmanship to provide skaters with a boot that combines a classic retro look with high performance specs and features. The traditional fit of the Nexus 1000 skates is both wide and deep from heel to toe, perfect for players with thicker, wider feet than the Vapor and Supreme skates are built to accommodate.

The Nexus 1000 Hockey Skates are an exceptional choice for elite level hockey players. What separates the Nexus 1000 Skates from other top notch models is the combination of high tech specs and a classic, traditional boot design. Although the Vapor APX and TotalOne NXG skates are just a bit lighter, the Nexus 1000's are also lightweight skates, coming in at about 850 grams in Senior Size 9. Contributing to the traditional look of the boots, the liner is made with retro-tan Clarino and the achilles protector has two eyelets located along the top-edge. The modest yet modern design and stitching pattern of the boot quarters bears a striking resemblance to the Bauer 8090 Skates manufactured circa 2004/05. To complete the old school, traditional look, Bauer has added a thick, comfortable, white felt tongue. The tongue is thick enough to provide protection and comfort but flexible enough not to restrict mobility.

When you experience the Nexus 1000 Skates, you'll find that the boots are comfortable and supportive right out of the box, although you may want to take advantage of the thermo-formable boot in order to get a more personalized fit. The Nexus 1000 boot quarters and vented composite outsoles are rigid enough to provide solid support and flexible enough to give you the comfort and agility you need. Stops and starts are natural and smooth, and you'll be sure to notice the benefits of using the Form-Fit+ Footbeds with grip and moisture management, which help minimize foot slippage as you push off and dig in with the incredibly lightweight Tuuk LS Fusion Runners. The Tuuk LS Fusion Runners, which are 27% lighter than standard stainless steel, are also found on the TotalOne NXG and Vapor APX Skates.

Bauer's Nexus 1000 Skates, along with the rest of the Nexus line, are a welcome addition to an ever-impressive lineup of high quality Bauer products for players of all ages and skill levels.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

I am a power skating coach for the Arizona Bobcats AAA program I have these skates on 7 days a week some days for more than 5 hours in a row. They are very durable, comfortable and lightweight.

Extreme comfort and natural feel
January 11, 2013
Bought this over the holidays to replace aging one95's, after countless times checking them out. I got them, went out to skate the next morning. My movement after only a few minutes felt natural to the boot. after getting them baked, felt more snuge and very comfortable, (I highly recommend getting them baked first. Heel will pop out but after baking you won't have that problem) Also not super stiff compared to the totalone or APX but still with enough stiffness compared to the flexlite line. Would highly recommend the 1000's to anyone.

How does the toe box compare with the total one? I love my Bauer total ones, but the toe box is just too small.
By Customer Service on August 7, 2014

Answer:
You're in luck - the Nexus 1000 Skates have a much roomier toe box than the TotalOne Skates. Many people who have issues with the width of the TotalOne Skates are very happy once they make the switch to Nexus 1000 Skates.

I now know it has a wider heel area but is the toe area wider too? I have and been using Vapor skates for the past 8-10 years, and currently using the top of the line Vapor from a couple years ago. I wear a size 8D in the vapors.
By Customer Service on August 18, 2014

Answer:
Yes, the toe box is wider than the Vapor skates.

I wore the Vapor line and got really bad Bauer bumps on my heels. I love the Bauer skates but just can't wear vapors or the total ones. Is the heel wider in the Nexus 1000? Would love to get them but can't risk spending $799 for a skate that kills my feet. Please let me know if the heel is wider so I won't get the bumps.....
By Jeremiah at HockeyGiant.com on May 13, 2013

Answer:
There is more room in the heel of the Nexus skates than in the Vapor and Supreme skates. Bauer constructed the Nexus skates with a "Deep V" heel fit, which works as a heel lock to secure your feet in the boots. We can't guarantee than any skate will fit exactly the way you would imagine before trying them on for yourself, but we can tell you that the Nexus skates do have more room in the heel than Vapors and Supremes.

are these the same as the old 8090s in terms of sizing, i.e. 9d bauer 8090 would be a 9d nexus 1000?
By Customer Service on June 2, 2014

Answer:
Yes, if you wore the 8090 Skates in 9.0 D, you should stick with the 9.0 D in Nexus Skates as well. Keep in mind though, the Nexus Skates are a bit wider and deeper than the older supreme skates. It's not a huge difference, but noticeable.
