I've had this visor for about a year. After I got used to the weight, it was a great visor. As the visor has gotten older it has started fogging up more and more. Now it's to the point that it fogs so bad it's almost unusable. I've tried several methods to help with the fogging but nothing has worked.
Just a bit heavy

Have had this cage/visor for some time now. I have used it off and on and usually use a wire cage(black) because I find this one a bit heavy but the fogging issue is not really there. Good ventilation, clear view. Good product. I would love to go to a half visor but there are idiots out there who don't know how to keep their stick on the ice!

I hate using a full cage but i will not only use a shield and i dont like the all plastic ones so i found this at my local shop and bought it. I love it. I see so much better and because of that my game has increased. I will mention it is kind of heavy but once you are use to it you will be fine. I play in a non contact league so i dont worry about collisions but i did get hit from behind from someone who doesnt know how to stop and smacked right into the glass but i was fine with no damage to the cage and most importantly myself. I give it a 4 because of the weight but it is a great product. I haven't had any problems with fog yet and i have been using it for 4 or 5 weeks now.

Overall a decent product except that despite my efforts to the shield fogs up entirely too much. It is also quite heavy. One the other hand it is well made and has not had any mechanical problems.
Way better than the Full Face Mask

I had a similar collision to what Shaun was talking about, but with an entirely different outcome. Shaun may want to make sure his helmet is adjusted correctly and keep it on tight. My jaw was sore for about a week, but no damage came to it. Great combo! One thing I would mention is that it is heavier than what most would think. Make sure to be ready for that when first wearing it.
Great cage? after you get it bolted on.

When I was bolting this Bauer cage onto my Bauer helmet I stripped a bolt. There is a ?rib? on the helmet that interfered with the interface between the helmet and the cage. I had to make a run to Home Depot to get a replacement bolt. All in all it was a bit annoying.
However, I do like it and it provides a much better field of vision than a full steel cage.

I've had a similar type mask made by Itech and I really enjoy using it. The reason for me to be shopping for a new one, is because of the same reason as Justin below. I've played with mine for over 15 years and it's yet to cause me any problems. I've had numerous impacts to the sheild (pucks, sticks, elbows) and eventhough they've jarred my helmet and head around, the shield did not fail anywhere. I don't understand where anyone can get cut on anything if the helmet and sheild are adjusted correctly.
execellent face mask

This shield/cage is great!! I had to go out and buy a new shield because my full clear shield was starting to deteriorate from the rain-x anti fog product that I used on it to prevent fogging. This shield doesn't have the fog issue because the shield doesn't come down as far as the full clear shields, and the caged part allows for significantly better ventilation than the congested ventilation of the full clear shield. I'm not sure how Shaun below got a big gash from this cage, because there is no sharp edges for you to get cut. Also the shield fits very snug with the helmet with virtually no free play when strapped down properly. My guess is that he needs to get the proper sized helmet and or cage. The only real complaint I could think of with this shield is that it is noticeably heavier than a full clear shield, but you tend to forget about that when you are out playing. Overall excellent face shield and definitely recommended over a full clear shield or full cage.

Son had this combo shield, works great, no fogging, but yesterday he took a hit from another kid to the helmet. the plastic shield broke away from the wire cage. breaking at the two fastening points on the side.
Great Cage... BUT!!!!

Last week myself and another skater, from the opposite team collided. I my head collided with the other players elbow on the lower left chin. The cage & helmet shifted to the right causing a 2 1/2" deep cut under my chin, from the chin pad. I left the game with 16 stitches from this cage. Still better than a broken nose or worse.. I love this cage but needs to be looked at for this kind of impact...

I've used it in about 4 games thusfar and have had zero fogging up issues. I am totally satisfied with this purchase. I also bought the bauer anti-fog spray and put some on the inside of the shield before the game and it's good to go.

Will this fit the Bauer 4500 helmet?
By Jeremiah at HockeyGiant.com on April 24, 2013
Yes. The 4500 is one of the most compatible helmets on the market, so you can put just about any cage, shield or visor on it.
